Self-introduction

Dr. Yang SU is a Research Assistant Professor at School of Life Sciences, Southern University of Science and Technology. He did his Bachelor's at Jiangsu Ocean University and obtained a Ph.D. degree in biology at Nanjing Normal University. Then he moved to Shanghai Jiaotong University and Southern University of Science and Technology for post-doctorial studies. He is now interested in the functions of inositol phosphates and metabolic regulations of protein homeostasis. Dr. Su is supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, and the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission. He has published several research papers in journals like Nature Chemical Biology, Molecular Cell, mBio, and FEBS Journal as first or co-first authors. 


Research Interests:

◆The Cullin-Ring ligases are the largest family of E3 enzymes that mediate 20% of proteasomal degradation. CRLs require neddylation, for optimal function and are tightly regulated by CSN deneddylase complex. Our group recently discovered a role for the glucose in assembling and disassembling CRL-CSN complexes. How such metabolite-dependent CRL regulation integrates into cellular physiology, is the emphasis.
